Yips Be Gone Group Teleseminar
The volume and passion of the emails I’ve received about the yips (see below) has prompted me to do something I’d thought previously I wouldn’t do:
A group class on overcoming the yips.
I don’t have time to work with everyone 1-1, and some people with the affliction can’t make the investment needed to cover to cover my 1-1 fee.
So I’m going to offer a class via the phone to a group at a significantly lower rate.
See below for details on the program.
Here are a few of the emails I’ve received, with identifying information removed…

I am a high school baseball coach and have B.P. throwing issues. All of the emotions described can also be attributed to me. I also have a player (yes, a second
baseman) who been experiencing this for the last year. I would like to be able to help him. Our season starts soon.
Please let me know how we can get this started as soon as possible.

I am 43 years old. I have had “throwing yips” for 27years.
It is very important to me lose my “yips” because I love to play catch with my son (he’s is
and help him learn the game of baseball. He is very good and I can no longer get by with my “soft toss”. Anyway, hope to hear from you.

My son has always excelled in Baseball then last year the ball started going all over the place I have had him with professional coaches in fact [pro team and big league player] who first mentioned the yips when describing the problem to me. They have all tried to help fix the problem but to no avail it wasn’t until this year I starting thinking it was more mental than mechanical. Everything else is still great hitting catching I am just tired of seeing the frustration in his face. If there is anything that you can do it would be greatly appreciated.

I’m interested in your “yips” cure. It has been hampering me for 4 years. I want to play so bad, but I feel forced to quit. It all started with one throw in 7th grade and now I’m a 10th grader who can make the long throw from third, but just warming up is completely nerve racking because I know I’m going to mess up. With me, it’s like I throw short hops to the person. It’s so embarrassing and I think my hitting and fielding would land me a spot on my high school team. But I know that th coach won’t pick someone who can’t throw. I’d love to be cured before this season. I have tried different throwing styles, anxiety therapy, different grips, etc. You are the first person who fully understands what its like. I have every symptom you have up on your website. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I play varsity softball for my schools softball team. I also am a catcher for a college showcase team. Colleges are watching me and I look ridiculous because of it. PLEASE HELP ME!
————
So I can enjoy the game of baseball again. I have played and loved this game since i was four. I have put in many hours of training and have heard from many people that I have the potential to play in college. I have been pitching my whole life and have been good at it until I played in a game the summer before my Junior Year. Since that game I have not been able to throw a strike and sometimes I cannot even finish an inning. Pitching was the most important part of my game and now I do not understand why it is so hard for me.

I am a freshman at a highly competitive Division 1 school.
For years I have been praised about my poise and control on the mound. For the last week or so I have not been able to play simple catch. If I go into a batting cage where no one is around I seem to throw much better, but once I start to focus in on a smaller target I can never seem to throw the ball where I want to. I worked my butt of in high school and in all my youth leagues to get to this point and I do not want something like the yips to ruin my career. I’m afraid that If I cannot solve this problem I will not be able to make the team next year. Please help!!

My son is a college freshman playing DIII baseball. He has the throwing yips bad. he is a middle infielder and is really down on himself and wants to find some help FAST!
Please call me right away so we can set something up:

Hiii! I am so excited to have found your webpage, and find out about you! I am a junior at [Division I school]. I play softball here, and am a catcher. In all my years of playing I have never ever had a problem, that is until I got to my collegiate games behind the plate.. at some point I picked up this habit.. which I never had a name for (other than the creative ones I made for it–my stutter, pumping, etc).. which I now know are the YIPS! I have never had anyone tell me that this is a common problem among other athletes, but after reading your page I am so relieved.
Everything you talked about completely agrees with my “issue”. I am contacting you to hopefully seek help–after talking with a sports psychologist for 2 months and getting slightly some help, but not nearly enough to talk about. We leave for our opening games in Orlando, Florida on February 29, 2008.. and I am CROSSING MY FINGERS t hat you can help me before then! Can’t wait to hear back from you.

OK, I could go on with more, but I think you get the picture.
Know that this is only a fraction of what’s going on there.
I spoke with one of the top softball coaches in the country about it recently and she said:
“If I could fix that problem I’d be a millionaire.”
Softball catchers get it, but also pitchers throwing to bases.
***********************
I’m going to offer a free introductory class this week Wednesday. (I infer from the quotes above that these people want to start sooner rather than later, do you agree?)
EVENT: Yips Group Class Introduction DATE & TIME:
Wednesday, February 13th at 2:00pm Eastern FORMAT:
Simulcast! (Attend via Phone or Webcast — it’s your
choice) TO ATTEND THIS EVENT, CLICK THIS LINK NOW…
http://instantTeleseminar.com/?eventid=1932492
I realize you may not be able to make this time, but go there now and ask any questions you want and I’ll answer it. You can then go to the link later in the day and listen to the whole session.
***********************
Sign up for the course before Wednesday ends and I’ll give you one 1-1 phone session as a complimentary bonus.
The email you’re reading will reach several thousand people and I’ll only take 20 people in this first class.
So if you or someone you know has this issue, please take fast action.
We’ll go for 6 weeks, (I’ll poll the class to find the best time that works) so if you want help any time soon please get yourself in this class.
Because I’m not working with you 1-1, I can’t guarantee complete success for everyone.
I can promise you’ll have the best tools available.
Plus, you’ll have recordings of the sessions so you can go over the exercises again and again.
Sometimes the fix is miraculous — super fast. Sometimes success is more like chopping down a big tree: persistence wins.
I can’t cut the tree for you, but I’ll give you the sharpest ax and help you identify the tree.
You’ll take a quantum leap in your ability to deal with the stress of it, and have the best possible chance of freedom and a return to joy playing or coaching the game.
There is enormous power in a group, so I’m excited to see the results this produces.
For many of you this may be your best shot.

p.s. I can take two more 1-1 clients, so write me if you’d like to apply for one of those positions. I’ll let you sit in on the class and get the recordings as a bonus.
p.p.s. Again, I’ll only take 20. Given the enormous emotional cost these people are paying, I expect it to fill fast.

Baseball Coaching Lesson from the Super Bowl
Wow. Great Super Bowl.
I wanted the Pats, but loved the game. Really classic stuff.
I don’t know about you, but I was emotionally spent after
the game. Took me watching half of a bad romantic comedy
with my wife afterwards to be able to sleep.
What I admired was how “full out” they played. Especially
the Giants, but both teams layed it out there.
You expect that from a Super Bowl, but too often one team
can’t handle the emotional tidal wave and their efforts are
wasted like they’re trying to swim against a riptide.
As you know from Heads-Up Baseball (currently the #14 best
selling baseball book on Amazon… 12 years after it came
out) and from my Confidence Conditioning programs, you
can’t control whether or not you win a game.
(I had a great session with a HS baseball team on that on
Saturday, perhaps I’ll come back to give details another
time).
A key to success is to figure out what you can control and
do a great job with it.
I did some exercise a while back about how I know when I’m
being successful. What are the ongoing indicators that I
can use to know whether I’m in a “green light” or high
performance state?
One was what I called “letting it rip.” When I feel like
I’m letting it rip I’m at my best.
With my 1-1 clients and baseball coaching I’m coaching “from the hip” instead of
my head.
With my emails I’m writing fast and I’m writing at below a
6th grade reading level (according to my software this
email is written at reading level: 5.7).
So what are your indicators of success? Are you letting it
rip? What is your Super Bowl? How would you know if you won?
Good questions.
